To the trained ear, however, you hear that his mistakes are instantly blended into a fill or a different time signature, which shows amazing adaptation and improvisation skills. Judging skill comes not from hearing strictly what’s played, but hearing “between the lines”. This drummer isn’t playing a song he’s rehearsed before–he set up his drums in a park and started playing whatever he felt.

And that’s pretty cool.
